Is Tradition Good or Bad?
As a professed oddball and weirdo, I often run head into tradition. Status
quo, a fancy term for "how we've always done it" is often annoying.
Tradition, in and of itself, is neither good or bad. I see that tradition
is a foundation for order, for traditions often define the best ways of
doing things, and yet, I feel some traditions are unneeded at best. It
carries with it a rigidity that can sometimes hinder us. It can lull us
into a sort of nonthinking slumber. I believe that examining tradition
is sometimes needed, so that the outdated and occasionally harmful
traditions can be thrown out. I say that because I like to know why, the
reasoning. Sometimes no reason is known, and we follow along like lemmings.
Anyways, there's my thoughts on the subject.
