Dealing with Chat Jerks

In the chat rooms I frequently see people who, for some odd reason, want to try to stir up anger in other people by lame insults. If you try to reciprocate, all chaos ensues and the experience is less enjoyable for everyone (except the jerk perhaps). So how do you keep your dignity when dealing with such bozos as the Faker who puts words in your mouth, and the Cusser whose mouth has never come within 10 feet of soap? My best answer is to simply ignore them. Most of the regulars know what's happening and aren't impressed by the antics of the Faker or Cusser. So your dignity is quite safe unless you reciprocate that treatment. A kind word turneth away wrath, but an angry word stirs it up. A lot of times they may go elsewhere because they are bored (who wants to fight with something that isn't fighting back? It's not very exciting, and most of the bullies and jerks have little imagination IMHO). So there it is. My answer to a common dilemma. (Try it in real life. I think it'll work there too.)
